The for-purpose sector is worth $12.1b – and contributes 4.2% NZ’s total GDP (2018), including $4.0b volunteer labour. In relative terms the sector is on par with the size of Agriculture industry and close to the size of the Retail trade and Transport, postal, and warehousing industries.
