International Volunteer YEAR (IVY2026)

This year, 5 December marks an important moment - it is the official launch of International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development (IVY2026), a global initiative declared by the UN General Assembly that highlights the crucial role of volunteering in achieving sustainable development.

The previous International Year of the Volunteer was in 2001, 25 years ago.

Volunteering New Zealand and the Volunteer Centres throughout the motu have begun planning for this significant event. Read more about the background and intention of IVY2026 here.

You'll want to bookmark the IVY2026 page to keep up with news releases in coming months!

Volunteering New Zealand will be asking the community and voluntary sector to co-design their IVY26 Call to Action so watch out for this as well.
