National Volunteer Week 18-24 June 2023 honours the collective energies and mana of all volunteers in Aotearoa.
This Te Wiki Tūao ā-Motu – National Volunteer week, the theme is ‘Time to Shine – He wā pīataata’ and provides an opportunity for you to thank volunteers for the difference they’ve made and the impact they’ve had on those you help.
It's also an opportunity to shine a light on the impact of volunteering:
Volunteering contributes an estimated $4 billion to the New Zealand economy – yet it is under-resourced and under-valued.
Volunteer infrastructure and management needs to be recognised and valued so that volunteering is supported.
Volunteer-involving organisations should encourage government and other funders to invest in volunteering infrastructure and technology.
Strategic investment in infrastructure, capacity and capability will pay huge dividends in the ability of the sector to overcome challenges and contribute to volunteer wellbeing and strong communities.
