Inland Revenue (IRD) is consulting on potential changes to the way charities and tangata whenua, community and voluntary organisations and groups are taxed in New Zealand.
The potential changes include introducing tax for 'unrelated' charity businesses.
The consultation document is technical so Hui E! and Volunteering NZ have created a survey that outlines the key areas of the consultation in plain English and gives you the chance to share your view.
The aim is to ensure that the voices of our hugely diverse sector organisations are heard. The survey results will be collated into feedback from the Community Constellation, a collaboration of community sector peak bodies that Hui E! coordinates.
At the end of the survey you can choose to give your permission to share your individual response with IRD (an automatic email will be sent to IRD, with you cc'd in).
Alternatively, you can send your own feedback to policy.webmaster@ird.govt.nz with “Taxation and the not-for profit sector” in the subject line.
Get started with the survey here.
This survey will close at 5pm on 24 March and individual feedback can be sent through to IRD until 31 March.
