Major grant funding round

The New Zealand National Commission for UNESCO is calling for Expressions of Interest for its 2019/20 major grants contestable funding round.

Funding of between $10,000 and $40,000 is available for projects, events, programmes or initiatives that advance the National Commission’s mission:    “Connecting Aotearoa-New Zealand to UNESCO and the world by the fostering and sharing of ideas; and contributing to building the knowledge and capabilities needed to ensure a better future for all.”

Proposals must align with at least one of the National Commission’s strategic priorities.

As UNESCO is an organisation of ‘ideas’, the National Commission is seeking projects that demonstrate innovation and new ways of working. It is looking to fund new initiatives or new components of existing initiatives which have the potential to lead to positive long-term change at a national or regional level. In light of the 15 March terrorist attacks in Christchurch, particular consideration will be given to initiatives that reinforce the core UNESCO values of equality, diversity and democracy.

Expressions of Interest are due by 18 June. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit a full application, which will be due by 23 July.
